Our Classes

Romney Marsh Dog Training Club

 

Our Classes are held on a Monday Evening at Newchurch Village Hall, St. Mary's Road, Newchurch TN29 0DP. 3 equal length classes starting with:

Class 1 Puppies 6:45 to 7:30

Class 2 Intermediate 7:30 to 8:15

Class 3 Advanced 8:15 to 9:00

 

There is a large car park, and dogs can be exercised in the adjacent Jubilee Field but you must clean up after your dog at all times! Please note only vaccinated dogs can be accepted for training and you will need to show your vaccination certificate on enrollment.

 

Class 1 is for puppies and young dogs and is taken by Barbara and assisted by Cherry.. It follows the Kennel Club's Good Citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation through to Bronze Award. Come and learn how to train your puppy in a relaxed, stress-free environment using modern, kind and motivational methods. Puppy Foundation is an assessment based course designed to socialise puppies and young dogs, and start them off on the Good Citizen path. When your puppy has reached the required standard they will receive a Certificate and Rosette!

The next stage is Good Citizen Bronze Award and dogs and handlers will be taken step by step towards the standard required before being assessed for the first time by an outside Examiner. TIfr if you have a new puppy contact us .

 

Our Classes

Class 2 is for dogs over one year of age or who have already achieved their Puppy Foundation and covers the Bronze Award. This Class is taken by Anna and builds on the skills gained in the previous class, adding the 3 D's (Distance, Duration and DISTRACTIONS) Dogs

start to work off lead and when Anna is happy that both dog and handler are meeting the required standard you will be invited to take the KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme Tests, which are run twice a year. Handlers are often surprised at how much harder it is for their dog to concentrate when they first go outside but it is more realistic . After all we want our dogs to work well when we take them out not just at home!

Class 3 is taken by

Cherry and the dogs

work off lead more.

It covers the Silver &

Gold Awards In the

summer month's when

the weather is good

enough Class 3 works

outside.

 

Again it builds on the skills gained in the previous class, increasing the 3 D's (Distance, Duration and DISTRACTIONS) and building confidence and reliability
